Why I think faith is important in a POTUS.

I used to feel that it didn't matter what the potential president believed in, be it God, Allah, or Bob. But as I become older and stronger in my own faith, I'm beginning to realize, that for me, their faith plays a HUGE role in whether or not they are "The person for the job".

I used to think that the separation of church and state was non-negotiable; but for this position, I think that is impossible. How many people would vote for someone who had no faith? Someone who didn't believe in God?

Morals are connected with faith. After my Ethics class this summer (Which was hard as hell, by the way) I've realized that everything (FOR ME) that is a moral question can be answered by my faith.

I want to know that my President has faith. I don't care if he is Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, or whathaveyou...as long as he has faith. Because this country can't run on faith alone, he also needs to have conviction. The greatest part of this, is they are a person of faith, maybe, just maybe, their convictions can be strong enough and just enough to help our country.

And maybe I'm just over-tired since I've been up all night because I fell asleep at 5 and woke up at 9. (That was dumb)

Kerry for VP?

Heard on the rumor mill that John Kerry is a potential running mate for Obama. I still on the fence for this, but I did vote for Kerry when he was running for POTUS, I would have voted for just about anyone running against GWBush. I think, after reading some info about it...it wouldn't be a bad thing and would probably help Obama since apparently no one else on his list is as wellknown as Kerry.

Oh, that's right Cleopatra Killed Herself.

By way of an asp bite. I've always loved the story of Cleopatra...and I can't figure out why. I mean, we are talking about a girl who had many lovers (Caesar, Anthony,etc), committed adultry (most likely), incest (maybe), and committed suicide (allegedly).

But I can't get Liz Taylor playing her character out of my mind. She was beautiful and wonderful. Of course, the fact that I watched the movie last night is why I'm thinking about this movie. Tonight I'm watching Breakfast at Tiffany's and will most likely do a short blog about that, too.

I know I'm a dork. But that's why you love me, right?

John Conner

I have a secret. I have a huge crush on John Conner. Edward Furlong played John in T2...and I fell in love with his character. (The fact that Edward was cute was moot) He was a bad boy...and you know what they say about bad boys..Nick Stahl played him in T3 - and again - he was a kick ass mid-twenty year old that knew how to handle himself with a robot from hell.

Now..Lord help me...Christian Bale is playing his character in T4...I think I have died and gone to heaven. I watched the trailer, courtesy of sxephil on youtube...and was already in love. I think that they picked the perfect person for this part...which is funny, because I don't particularly like Bale as Batman. (I'll always be a Keaton-girl)

The movie is set in the future, after D-Day and is set to come out May 2009...I can barely stand waiting. I love action flicks....

My New Pink Palm Centro

OK, I'll admit it...I decided to get the phone primarily because it was Pink.

At this point, I've had the dang thing for over a month and have yet to figure it out. It's time consuming. Entering the information for my contacts took over an hour...and I am not a patient person. By the time I was able to enter everything...tackling the rest of the features...welp..the idea frankly made me scream.

So, I have this pretty pink phone...and the buttons are too small, I was constantly hanging up on people before I figured out how to turn the touch screen off while on a call, and have yet to use the Palm Pilot features, save the calendar.

I did figure out how to play Sudoko on this phone...might I say it's addicting.

So here's my grades for the phone:

Appeal: 10

Features: Wouldn't know...haven't used them all

Easy/Hard: Medium....

I suppose I should just breakdown and read the damn instruction manual...I will I will...

Why is being a feminist a bad thing?

News flash: It's not.

I had Sociology class tonight - and found myself leaving pissed off. Which is odd, because normally this is a lecture/special news reports watching class. Tonight, for this first time all semester, we actually had a discussion. Which could have been great....Until, however, in a class of 40...I was targeted. Guess why? Well, it could have been the huge bullseye I had on the back of my shirt - but it was most likely because I was the ONLY ONE who raised my hand when the female professor asked this question:

"Who here is a feminist?"

As the class was 3/4 FEMALE, I expected to be one of many with their hands waving proudly in the air. Nope. Shocker. Just me. I was appalled.

The next question, of course, was just for me.

"Why are you a feminist in the twenty-first century?"

Um, because there is still a need for people to stand up for women's rights? Because women are still looked at as being inferior to men. Because my paycheck isn't as high as the man's who does less than I do? Because it's a legal debate about what I choose to do with my body? Because I'm a woman who sees and hears the demeaning way women are referred to? Because the world, as a whole, is sexist? Because it doesn't matter if it's the 21st century - women are treated like a different, subpar race in the workforce, in the churches, in the home, in the classroom...every day. Need I continue??

Whew boy. That started some finger pointing and rolled eyes. She asked...I answered. While I don't expect people to agree with me...I couldn't believe that 17..yes 17 women in my class raised their hands when the prof. asked...

"Who believes that a women's place is in the home?"

THEN WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?

"Oh, well, I need this class for my nursing degree."

Why are you getting a degree in nursing...shouldn't you be getting a degree in pot roast? (Actually didn't say that last part...but I wanted to soooo bad.

Why the answers were all different...they damn near all started with, "Well, my husband..."

Are you kidding me? Are YOU KIDDING ME?? It's not like I think women shouldn't stay home...I think that they should have a choice. If they decide they want to stay home - that's awesome. But don't judge those who didn't make the same choice you did. And that's what they did...for 20+ minutes...I was attacked because I believe that women deserve more than they are currently getting. Not more money, not more jobs, but MORE RESPECT. That's it. That's what it all boils down to. Respect.

Ok, I have to stop now. I'm getting off my soap box. Just needed to vent.
